I can access the Pirate Bay even though I am on BT. I am using Cloudflare DNS though.

It's only illegal if you download copyrighted material.
There are lots of bands, devs and amateur film makers who upload their stuff there for free, like github etc, just be careful you only download non copyrighted material.
Fair enough, but I'm still steering clear.

@Rgmanby I use github, but only for computer programs - from reliable links on sites I trust, or recommendations from trusted sources.

My friend has noticed this in the last couple of days. Torrent sites flag up the unsafe site page from my browser. When you accept the risk and continue to the site it just displays a blank page. Happens no matter the browser I use or if it's updated. Could only be the ISP? Plusnet introducted a new setting?

If they are blocked due to a court order, the ISP is obliged to refuse connection.

Surely all those would have been in place years ago. Seems a bit strange all of a sudden with no recent news to suggest why and also not much chatter about it. Best I could find was a trade deal with Australia re-inforcing protection of intellectual property.

@IronMonk1 That sounds more like a security system setting or anti virus program on your device. Have you changed or checked that, or tried another known working device?

It did the same on other devices and with firewalls etc switched off. However as mentioned earlier changing the DNS service worked. Can't put a finger on why it suddenly didn't work beforehand. I googled the IP his router was using for the original DNS and while not an exact match, it was mentioned in this thread which goes over my head. Probably unrelated.

Someone should probably tell Google as PB is available if you use their DNS servers. (That's 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 btw.)
