...Well, somebody has been working this weekend!
Either that, or a script has. 🙂
A clue? Now says: POSTS & NEW
I guess when POSTS = NEW the pruning stops.

It's always shown that.
I suspect the number of NEW posts will be different for each member as AFAIK it refers to the unread posts for that member, in other words you will see a different number for NEW than I will.

It'd probably be beyond the realms of possibility to think that the forum is being archived, to be re-launched on a different platform given all the problems being exhibited by what we have now.

I don't think it is being 'archived' for that reason, but we need to wait for the official response before making assumptions.

I appreciate it is the weekend, but the decision to do the pruning was obviously taken prior to 11AM Friday., which meant there was ample time to post a simple two-line statement on the Service Information board - something along the lines of 'Commencing around 11AM Friday the 30th September, we are going to be carrying out maintenance on the forum, which will take around 'X' hours and see the number of live topics reduce'
Such a simple action would have meant I would not even have created this topic.
As an aside from that the opportunity to remove redundant boards - such as 'Business', 'Gaming' and the 'Trials' boards ought to have been taken - IMO.

Housekeeping/archving activity guys - and a long overdue one at that. Doesn't look like this has ever been done in the Plusnet Community and there were topics dating back to 2001!!!!
It should be standard practise to complete housekeeping/archiving activities on a Community of this size every 6-12 months in order to:
- Ensure topics are up to date, relevant and as helpful/correct as possible
- Keep Community clean, tidy and organised
- Help general Community performance
Khoros has a bulk archive tool where we can customise the filters, and for this activity we applied to following rules:
- Posts in the 'Help with my Plusnet services' and 'Other forums' categories
- Posts that are more than 3 years old
- Post that received less that 10 views in the last 6 months
As you can see we've been quite conservative with the rules and only removed posts that were old with very, very little demand.
But if there is anything you feel need to be reinstated, please let me know.

I understand that @NickBS , and agree that there should be regular 'tidy ups' to keep things neat (and reduce the load on storage).
Now, any chance of a reply to my last post, please?

Yes - I appreciate this should have been communicated in advance and apologies for any concern caused.
Wasn't expecting quite the impact with the conservative rules applied - but that is a reflection on the absence of regular housekeeping activities over the years.
I will pop something on the announcements board now, albeit later than preferred.

@NickBS are there any plans to remove fora that are no longer used or relevant?
The "Business", "Mobile", and "Mobile App Testing" are no longer relevant at all;
Also the entire "News & Announcements" section is unused and unhelpful - there's been no posts at all for 2 years. I understand that Plusnet's policy is not to make any announcements about service issues (as it looks bad to announce a problem that maybe only a few customers would notice), nor are any News items posted anymore. Edit: NOW there is an Announcment!
There is also the Plusnet Blog, which also hasn't seen any new posts for almost 3 years - it just makes the Plusnet community look neglected and Plusnet's commitment to it look half-hearted (which it is).

Thanks for the explanation, NickBS.

Rather pointless, but thanks anyway.

Yes @corringham - we're working with delivery team on full mobile sunsetting plan. So we'll sweep up some of these clean up activities in one go.
