Is there a way to find out what my dynamic IP address is remotely, via the portal?

Alternatively you could try [ whatsmyip ] from your browser then click on your ip address to get the full address.

@C1Rider That would give the IP address of their current location, not that of their 'home' location.

That's right John, my ip address is shown as located in Chesterfield which I am not.

If I click on my ip address I get more info which includes [ plus.net ] on the end of my 4 dot number.

Depending on what router you are using, you could configure the Dynamic DNS feature using one of the various free account providers that are available. You would then be able to easily determine your home IP address by carrying out a lookup on the Dynamic DNS hostname.

If your reason for wanting to do this is so you can access features on your home network remotely, then you could forego the IP entirely and just use the Dynamic DNS hostname for access.

I'm thinking that C1Rider was possibly just looking for an IP address, not a geographical location.

Whatismyipaddress has poor location awareness.

has more accuracy. And that (if you think about it) feeds back into their market, where people who don't like having their location (at some level of accuracy) can become one of their VPN customers.

(Out of pure blind curiosity I've been 'monitoring' various IP location-awareness providers for a number of years. Mainly because they're selling a service to businesses which isn't really necessary).

It's at least 50 miles out for me. I have tried multiple IP location tools over the years, all vary, I have had results from all ends of the country, Google is nearly 200 miles out!. Personally I value my privacy and this suits me fine.

Based on a sample of 32 separate IP addresses over the past 2 months, 28 of them are reported as being between a few to ~20km away by nordvpn.  The other 4 were further away, the largest distance being 51.5 km

(Calculations based on the central location OS grid references of the reported postcode).

I could crunch through nearly 2 years-worth of recorded data. Whapismyip is fairly random.
