I've had an email for an EE brand migration trial, is this actually happening and Plusnet is losing its broadband services to EE? Thanks

@ont Now that is interesting - to say the least! Are you with EE for mobile, by any chance?

Very interesting. I shall await further information, but it is interesting that, so far, only you seem to have received this email.

BT seem to be moving all it's retail customers to EE. It doesn't explicitly mention Plusnet, however Plusnet is a BT retail brand

To expand on @jab1
Did the email look like it came from a genuine EE email address, what is noticeable it's not addressed to you unless you are know as 'there'

@ont have you had BT broadband in the past ?

Thanks - more obsufication then, but if @ont has 'no BT or EE products whatsoever, something smells - to me, anyway.

As @jab1 says, ‘very interesting’, but also a little confusing.
I’ve long been in the camp that believe Plusnet as a brand will disappear, probably sooner rather than later.
I’m not a big TV watcher but I’m sure I saw a TV advert for Plusnet Last week – I think!
So how does that fit in ?

However BT and EE often undercut Plusnet pricing with not infrequent offers and promotions. It's not inconceivable to see value products being offered by the "EE essentials" product range, in which case do BT need two competing offerings?
Ironically, when Plusnet have completed their transition to a wires only broadband provider, it will be much easier to move Plusnet customers to EE than it is to move BT ones.
I wonder how long it will be before we start to see "Plusnet powered by EE" appearing on the branding.

Before I moved back to PN I was ringing around. EE were willing to pay £300 termination costs for me to move across to them. I told them I wasn't interested and would look at BT. They told me that all BT customers would be moved to the EE platform in the not too distant future. EE also weren't aware of the gift cards being given out by BT as "sweeteners" to join.

@Marksfish Your last sentence kind of makes sense - BT BB theoretically are a separate business to EE, so in normal BT Group manner, it appears they don't talk to each other - despite the fact that BT BB domestic customers are being moved to EE, leaving the BT brand/arm to deal with the commercial side.

It is well known that the BT brand strategy is to move all their residential customers to EE and just keep business 'Enterprise' customes under the BT banner.
I note that this is a trial. The key question that comes to mind is: what is the source of this email?
My guess is that it has been sent by BT brand in error and is absolutely nothing to do with Plusnet or the future of Plusnet..

I've just had what appears to be the same email. Mine looks to be very much the same as some previous trials that I have been involved in for the BT Group, and I've previously had invitations to other trials, some I've been eligible for and some I haven't. Some I'd have have to have moved over to BT or EE before it started and such like.
@ont, could you have previously been in any trials with any of the BT Group?
