Re: FTTP Plusnet in County Broadband area

@Andrew70  on that map also try toggling "Any FTTP provider postcodes",  as yet another supplier also appears to have installations locally in North Lopham !

Re: FTTP Plusnet in County Broadband area

@Anonymous OK will do thank you, ignore my previous post, I got it wrong way around the handful of connections are indeed Openreach, none CB that probably gets to the bottom of it.

Re: FTTP Plusnet in County Broadband area

More clearly seen by unticking everything, then ticking "Altnet FTTP (not Openreach or VMO2 or KCOM)"

Re: FTTP Plusnet in County Broadband area

Narrowing the selection further (toggling every box), I'm seeing your nearby installations listed as -

"Upp FTTP Premises",   "AirBand Fixed Wireless or FTTP",   and   "ITSwisp Fixed Wireless"

Re: FTTP Plusnet in County Broadband area

Fix

@Andrew70  I wrote a post around 4:15 but it never got sent because Plusnet had a major DNS failure then. Back online now after changing my DNS server address.

There are a lot of addresses on the NR16 2EP postcode, I checked the first 20 or so and 10 of those have Openreach WBC FTTP available and there are probably more, so Openreach have been installing in that area.

Re: FTTP Plusnet in County Broadband area

I think that's slightly unfair.

BT had to open up to other providers.

Why not the same rules for alt-nets?

Re: FTTP Plusnet in County Broadband area

I heard from  a couple of people that County Broadband had a period of years (3 perhaps ?) before they are expected to open their network to other providers under a wholesale arrangement.

Ive had a look online but not found any evidence to support this unfortunately. Its a shame as I would like the FTTP but cant take a gamble with CB, where I am they are the only provider.

My area is not in the Openreach plans

Re: FTTP Plusnet in County Broadband area

@greygit1, BT/OR had market domination so were made to provide wholesale access to their network, otherwise they could/would kill any competition.

Altnets aren't (yet) so dominant - however those that received government funding to build networks in the less commercially viable areas will have to provide wholesale access after a period (2-3 years?). Whether there are any ISPs that will take up that access is a different matter...
