Full Fibre upgrade

Hello!!! Hope that you're all well and a nice Christmas and New year.

This is probably the 1millionth post about this and I'll probably annoy a quite a few of you regulars and I'm sorry 🥰

City fibre installed a green cabinet at the end of my street sometime in the summer last year.

My current package unlimited fibre + line rental is due to end next month.

I don't use home phone anymore and I'm happy to ditch it. Can I upgrade to full fibre now or do I have to wait until middle of February when my current package is up for renewal

Thanks in advance
😊

Re: Full Fibre upgrade

@Paulkoumi IF it is City Fibre who have installed the FF network (and not Openreach/BT) then you would have to move to an City Fibre-using ISP - Plusnet only use the Openreach network.

@Paulkoumi  -

Have you put your address in to the  CityFibre availability checker   to ensure that they can connect you ?

Here is the list of ISPs that you can choose from that use the CityFibre network -  CityFibre broadband providers

As you will have to use a different ISP to install a CityFibre fibre-optic cable to your home, the decision about WHEN to do it is independent of your existing Plusnet contract, as you are not migrating an existing service to another provider (as you would if your upgraded connection was to be installed by Openreach.

If you were to order the new FTTP service now, then you might be lucky enough to have the installation complete before your Plusnet fixed-term contract converts to being a monthly rolling-contract, and have a few days overlap to ensure that you are happy with the new FTTP service BEFORE ceasing your Plusnet account.

Re: Full Fibre upgrade

Fix
I spoke to BT via web chat and they said I am able to upgrade my existing fibre to FTTP but their cost to upgrade to their ULTRA fast broadband 500 was about £41 a month.

The agent I spoke to was trying to pressure me into taking it right then, told them I'd speak to Plusnet first because I was unsure about any early termination fees. The BT agent was being very forceful and saying their offer won't be available to be if I left their chat.

I went and spoke to Plusnet in another webchat window, the agent I spoke to was much more patient and talked me through how to see what packages are available to me and best part of it all... It's cheaper!!

I'm getting the same speed BT offered me but for £31.99 for 24months!

Claps, well done Plusnet!! Just waiting for the installation now
