Full fibre now being offered, but fibre is still not outside my house?

I was about to switch, in a few days, to fibre only (from my current Plusnet fibre and phone package), but today I notice that the deal I am being offered on their site has changed. I am now only being offered full fibre, instead of FTTC. But I am certain the fibre cabling currently ends about 150 metres away from me and has not yet reached all the way along our lane.

Does anyone know, if I go ahead with the switch, will Openreach still be able to go ahead with the connection (and at no extra cost) ?

Or, when they realise it hasn't quite reached my house, will they just tell me 'tough you can't have it yet'. ?

Thanks

@kmw350 Can you post a screenshot of the full result from here: https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/AddressHome obscuring your phone number?

@JAB, thank you, hopefully this is the right one: (oops forgot to obscure the number at first!)

@kmw350

The final connection to a property is only done after an order is received.

If you look at the results you'll see Full Fibre is available but traffic management is required to do the install.

Understood. Thanks both of you, so I can go ahead with the switch when I'm ready,

your help is much appreciated as always.

Re: Full fibre now being offered, but fibre is still not outside my house?

@kmw350 That is the right one. Reading the narrative, it appears that the installation needs 'traffic management' to get the last '150m' down your lane. How many properties are there on it, and would any of your neighbours like to move on to FTTP?

As a point of interest, you can  still switch to SoGEA, although I would go for Full Fibre.

Re: Full fibre now being offered, but fibre is still not outside my house?

There are only 3 houses between me and where the fibre currently ends. It's about 150m, maybe 4 telegraph poles.

I don't think the neighbours are interested in FTTP at the moment.

Does this mean I could be waiting a while for this to be done, (is it underground or across the poles?)

(I have just subscribed to Phonely in anticipation, and will want to move my phone number across once I complete the contract switch with Plusnet) .

Since Full Fibre became available at my address SoGEA has been removed as an upgrade option. Now only Full Fibre or make changes to my call features.

Four poles in 150m? - that is a little excessive. Your FTTP cable will be via the poles, as is your current service. As to the length of time from placing the order to getting the installation completed, only BTOR will be able to tell PN that, when they place the order.

The BTw checker posted above indicates that @kmw350 could still get SoGEA, should they so wish.

Re: Full fibre now being offered, but fibre is still not outside my house?

Actually it looks like I've made a mistake - the fibre is now just two houses away, there's only two poles between us, so hopefully they will be happy to connect me without too much trouble.

Re: Full fibre now being offered, but fibre is still not outside my house?

@kmw350

According to the results you're not on a Fibre Priority Exchange so SOGEA should still be available. I assume you did ask for Full Fibre. I can't see PN changing the order without your permission.

You'rs on an overhead feed so a new (fibre) cable will be run to your property. I'm gussing "traffic managment" may not be much more than a Stop / Go board though if it's a lane they may need to close it for a while to allow the cherry picker access to work.

Yes, my 150m estimate was a bit out I think! But I've just been and looked, and there are in fact only two poles between me and the one with Fibre connected.

@JAB thanks again for your answers

Re: Full fibre now being offered, but fibre is still not outside my house?

@kmw350

The pole that matters is the one with a "box" attached at the top. This is a Connectorized Block Terminal (CBT). A fibre cable gets plugged into this and then run to your property. It then gets brought down to ground level to a Customer Splice Point box (CSP) before being brought in to the property to an Optical Network Terminator (ONT) which requires power.
