I like Plusnet a lot but Norton AV is a mess

title say it all.

I like many others have had to 'find out' what Plusnet's AV supply actually means; is it for the first year/ new contracts/or as long as you are with them...?

Not for the first time i have had another  'reminder' from Norton to apply to renew... they now want nearly £80 for just a year!  After going through the sign up over the past two years i checked my subscription and got this

I am happy it is at that level but i don't like the email frighteners.

Someone is not talking to Norton to say I'm covered and I still don't know what Plusnet's policy is re Norton AV whilst contracted to them.

.

Re: I like Plusnet a lot but Norton AV is a mess

No surprise here, I ditched Norton many years ago because of their renewal harrassment. McAfee was just as bad. But why bother with Norton at all? We have Windows Defender on four PCs, runs quietly in background, never needs attention, recent versions win top scores in most review sites. No known intrusions although we know it has caught two known nasties.

One might think that if it's given away free, it's not worth having, and PN doesn't give much away except its generous annual price rises 🙁

@grazuncle

Nobody is forcing you to use Norton!

However, if you do want to renew, the thread linked below may be of interest.

EDIT:  I see you participated in that thread Undecided

Only thing I noticed with Defender, was that it caused Thunderbird to go very slow (as in not responding to the UI) at times. Setting an ignore on the Tbird profile directory fixed it. Previously I'd run Malwarebytes as the full version was free from my bank, but they discontinued the offer.

Thanks for replying..

I don't feel forced at all... just like to know either way... Seems such a simple thing to define...

I used to have Bullguard and then Norton bought them out. There are others if I need anything - I get that 👍

@MisterW

Ah yes, Thunderbird. I posted last week having quit TB after many years after it deleted months of emails as well as other messing about. The forums suggest that's it not a good idea to permit certain exemptions though I don't understand the tech details. Anyway, I've had enough of its instabilities, like Firefox its open sourcing has died the death of a thousand 'updates' by many helpers ... My post is here
