So I have a dilemma. My FTTC contract is up and I want to switch to FTTP. However I also want to retain my landline number so I can switch it to VOIP.
I'm happy to stay with Plusnet but all they say is that I will lose my number.
I have an account with A&A and they can port my number, but I will lose my FTTC broadband if they do that.
How the hell can I switch to FTTP and still retain my number? (I already have a different VIOP number but I want to retain my fixed number)
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.

@Nickpb your landline number is quarantined for 30 days after your FTTC service ceases/is replaced by FTTP. A&A should be able to retrieve it - if they allow 2 numbers to the same account?

they certainly do, I've got 22 on the office account!
You'd obviously need some voip hardware that can handle it , like the gigaset n300
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

There would be some down time on your current landline but apart from that it should be / is possible.
Do not start your port until FTTP is in and installed. Then ASAP port the number. With A&A it'll probably fail as their automated system needs and active line (yours is ceased). A&A Support need to contact BT Support (they are the number range holder) to do a manual port.
