Apologies if I am duplicating something but I keep seeing different answers and get conflicting advice when I talk to BT and plusnet.. BT have refused to help me unless I change broadband supply to them.
I have just moved to full fibre with a new Hub 2. and would like a VOIP line with adaptor to use my recent analog handsets.
1. Is this possible.
2. Is the digital phone socket on the Hub 2 an RJ12 connection.
3. If VOIP is possible - will the line connect to the digital phone socket or do I have to sacrifice one of the RJ45 ports.
4, Any advice on a suitable VOIP service and adaptor.
Thanks for your time.

The Hub2 has no direct VoIP capability. I'll leave to others to suggest a way forward, though, as it is something I know little about.

Sounds like you'll need an Anaologue Telephone Adapter (ATA) for your phones.
A&A appear to get a good vibe on this forum.

If your phone number matters to you then you only have 30 days from the date the line was ceased to "port" the number.

Are you aware that your phone number is only held in quarantine for a month from when it was disconnected, after which it will be lost to you?
If you are technically savvy you can get your own VoIP adapter such as a Grandstream HT501, this will need its own RJ45 connection. If you have trouble with configuration there will be help here.
In terms of the service. Some companies are reluctant to recover numbers from quarantine, Andrew’s and Arnold (A&A) are recommended

You can go to a company like A&A open an account and get them to "capture" (i.e. transfer) your old number if you want it and it's (well) within 30 days of termination. You don't need any hardware at this stage, you can even use an App on a smartphone.
Yes you can plug your old-school phones in via an adapter as mentioned, or buy new phones with an appropriate "hub". Either just connects to a normal LAN port on your router. NOT the WAN port.
I just moved to fibre (FTTC) and decided to get rid of all my old phones as they were rather dated, though the new VOIP hub I acquired did actually cover the transition in that it also connected to my old phone line (until it went) alongside VOIP and allowed my old cordless handsets to register to it. There are lots of options.

Yes @mystreet1 and @slayer that's what I bought (N300IP), though with a different Gigaset handset.
Lots of other ways of doing it though, depending what you want to achieve. 😉

Got my N300IP with 2x A510 handsets, then added a SL78H and another SL78H (both very cheap) on it's way from the same place as the N300IP.
Will be putting the A510 on there very soon.

The digital phone socket on the plusnet hub 2 is not supported, so ignore it.
To use your existing analogue handsets, you'll need an analogue telephone adaptor (ATA) and an account with a VOIP provider.
I am using a Grandstream HT801 which I got off Amazon for £40, and have a VOIP account with Andrews & Arnold who were able to port in my phone number.
Setting up the ATA so it works properly and securely behind the router is the hardest bit. You might also need an RJ11 to UK phone lead adaptor.
