Safeguard has a mind of its own

Ive never heard of safeguard until today when it started blocking websites.

I checked the safeguard settings it was turned off.

There were some categories set to blocked, so I unblocked them, even though this shouldnt be necessary since safeguard is turned off anyway.

I also added a website to the allowed section.

I restarted the router.

All to no avail.. sites are still blocked.

What's going on?

Did you then also restart the device that you were browsing on ?

as it would likely have a cached copy of the previous visit when the website URL was blocked.

Yes, restarted pcs.

6 hours later and no change.. all devices still redirected to blocked.plus.net

Why do the block categories keep reverting back? And the allow websites keep disappearing?

Re: Safeguard has a mind of its own

I suspect that site has been blocked for everyone - I can't get to it, on a totally different ISP, route and connection.

Re: Safeguard has a mind of its own

Its just one example. Fact is safeguard cant be turned off and is blocking all sorts of websites for me.

I found a post where support said to use different DNS but my HUB 2 doesnt allow changing DNS.

If Plusnet has become the kiddi only ISP I'm going to have to cancel my service.

And why did this only start today?

Strange I can't reach that site on a completely different ISP/connection/route, don't you think. The chances are it has been taken down by official sources.

That website doesn't exist !  -  I'm with an ISP who doesn't block ANYTHING including the Government sanctioned sites.

I also tried looking it up using an unfiltered DNS in Switzerland, and if that can't see it then nothing can.

I *think* it has been replaced by  https://www.exquisiteenhancements.co.uk/

which has a statement that says -

Please be aware that Piercings by Tim is no longer based in Brackley. You are booking for Tim at Exquisite Enhancements in Northampton.

Re: Safeguard has a mind of its own

Thanks, @outcast - I get a 'sorry, we can't find that site' message, using Firefox.

Ok, maybe that site is down, but were you all redirected to blocked.plus.net? Thats where I get redirected to this and other sites.

Neither @jab1  or myself are on a Plusnet connection, so NO.

Re: Safeguard has a mind of its own

It is, but both @outcast  and I have been PN customers in the past, and both have plenty of experience.
