Re: Safeguard not blocking a site

As we are unaware of any issues with the safeguard side of things I have raised it to the network team to find out more info for you.

I should have an update by Monday.

I am in next week Mon-Thurs 9:30-6 so I will keep an eye on it for you.

Do you need anything else at the minute?

Re: Safeguard not blocking a site

I just noticed safeguard is no longer working, I think it must've stopped when I renewed my contract. It isn't stopping anything despite safeguard listing multiple categories, ie. I can access pornhub - don't want the kids to access that!

Re: Safeguard not blocking a site

@Richyroo -  Would you be able to turn the router off and on again and also the devices?  Also, unplug any powerline adapters/boosters/meshes. Safeguard uses the DNS address to work so if a mesh/booster has gone rogue and sends out Google's DNS address for example, that will stop it from working.

Re: Safeguard not blocking a site

I don't have anything other than the router, switching that off and on had no effect earlier so unless you've actually changed anything I would be following the definition of insanity "repeatedly doing the same thing, expecting a different outcome"

Re: Safeguard not blocking a site

The idea is to get you on a new IP address as you have been connected with the same one for at least 2 months, a few reboots should do the trick, can you reboot again and let me know so I can see if you have been allocated a different IP or you can check using https://whatismyipaddress.com . I don't think the IP address itself is the issue more the servers and access racks behind that will change as part of being allocated a new IP.

Re: Safeguard not blocking a site

Thank you for explaining, that makes more sense, and less like I am just being asked to waste a bit of time Smiley

Although, given the number of times I've restarted I don't think it's going to get a new IP, is there any way I can free the lease from my end?

Re: Safeguard not blocking a site

You could try entering "ipconfig/renew" in a command prompt, if that doesn't do it try "ipconfig/release" then "ipconfig/renew"

Re: Safeguard not blocking a site

Hi this is happening to me. I blocked a website, receive an email saying it has been updated but then when I got back - the website I blocked is no longer there. I do save each time. I have restarted the router. I have called Plusnet who has opened a ticket. This is really not good - Safeguard should work. We are paying for this service. Please let me know if you resolved it. If this is not resolved soon I am leaving plusnet because of the lack for safety for families online. Can anyone help!

Re: Safeguard not blocking a site

In my case it was because I was using a VPN, if I switch that off safeguard works.
There are other articles on this forum where kids use VPNs to circumvent safeguard
