Re: Safeguard not working at all!

The pertinent requirement is that the PPP session is dropped and re-established.  That can happen without a forced router restart and unless the user is crawling though the router stats or logs 99.99% of users would be unaware that the PPP session had been dropped and re-established.

all I did was to login to the portal and turn SG off and back on on again (resetting my router after each one) and now SG is working as expected.

This is all that's required to fix it for the majority now, simply toggle it from and turn it on and it should work. No router reset required Smiley

Thanks for your patience guys,

@JonoH

Would it be correct to suggest that presupposes that the feature is presently switched on, albeit not working?

If it is not presently switched on, will not switching it on also require a new PPP session to facilitate a change to the DNS server assignment?

For some yes

If it is not presently switched on, will not switching it on also require a new PPP session to facilitate a change to the DNS server assignment?

I'm told (and I am by no means the expert) that toggling it will do the necessary to make sure Safeguard performs how you would expect it to, for example, it will be off if it's left in the off position.

It does, however, need a change to make it unstuck, for example, if you wanted it on and it's currently on, you need to turn it off then on again.

Re: Safeguard not working at all!

I have performed the "on/off/reset" shuffle several times to no avail, does not block categories or specific websites. I must admit cannot understand why a feature such as this appears to be so haphazard in execution

Hi @ccoleman I'm sorry to see you're unable to block categories or websites via Safeguard.

Can you switch Safeguard off then back on letting us know if that fixes the problem you're experiencing?

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: Safeguard not working at all!

Just a quick note on this - I turned SafeGuard on, but it didn't appear to be working. In the SafeGuard overview it says "We've blocked some categories by default, including: Pornography, Hate & Intolerance and Tasteless. You can change these at any time" but noticed that in the categories nothing was actually blocked. So I turned on the pornography category, and then flushed the DNS cache on my Mac, and it seems to be working.

To flush the Mac DNS from terminal I ran "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
