Static IP Address Blacklisted

HI All,

I would be grateful if any of the Plusnet support could tell me why my static IP ( 81.174.148.117) is being blacklisted by Barracuda and if they could contact Barracuda to have my I address Whitelisted. Thank you.

Re: Static IP Address Blacklisted

You can request removal from the blacklist yourself. Just got to https://www.barracudacentral.org/lookups/lookup-reputation enter your IP address, and if it is still listed click on the removal link.

However, removal may be temporary if the underlying issue is not addressed.  Poor reputation can be for a number of reasons (or any combination of them).

Re: Static IP Address Blacklisted

@corringham @Thank you for your reply, but I am well aware that I can request removal from the blacklist myself, but as you rightly allude, this may only be a temporary measure.

As my IP address is static and supplied by Plusnet, I was hoping that they would be able to offer a more permanent solution.

However, many thanks for your input - much appreciated.

Re: Static IP Address Blacklisted

I think you will find that Plusnet's official position is that any out-bound e-mail should be sent via their servers - if you run your own e-mail server then that is your problem to deal with.

In any case Plusnet have no control over addresses being blacklisted - there aren't any whitelists that you can be added to. Any address cab be blacklisted it it triggers the appropriate criteria. Most blacklist entries time out after some period - however, repeat entries may get listed for progressively lengthy periods.

I've only ever had my addresses blacklisted once in over 25 years - and that was due to computer malware that did actually send out rather a lot of spam in a short period, so it was deserved.
