Looking to upgrade as I am paying full fibre prices with my phone line but I have a few questions first.

1/  as the email iirc is tided to the landline, is it kept active if I choose to have my landline removed, or have to request it kept?

2/ the physical location of the box and or router.  Can FTTP use internal wiring for old lines or am I looking at running cat cabling from my front walls internal box to my router.  I have a main BT socket in hallway near the outside wall and one on the back wall in my living room about 20 feet away  Wi-Fi option is dodgy down to my flats listed 2ft thick external and internal walls that could not be replaced with normal plaster board, when the building was renovated.

3/ re the hub 2 router, I have had a rock solid connect for my FTTC with a Billion router, so is it worth upgrading the router or is the hub 2 good enough?

4/ finally a static IP address, is it offered by default or request

Your e-mail is tied to your account so you keep it (for the time being).

There is some leeway as to where the Optical Network Terminator (ONT) is installed but it needs to be near a power source. You actual incoming copper wire (not the master socket) is the starting point. It comes down to what's feasible against what's desirable on the day. You don't know until the installer arrives.

The router connects to the ONT by ethernet cable so it can go where ever you're happy running cable.

As I understand things a router that works on FTTC will work on FTTP. It might be worth getting the Hub2 just as a backup unit.

A static IP costs a one off £5.00 on request.

You don't say if you're happy losing your phone number.

My billion 8800NL v1 from what I read a while ago isn't capable of supporting FTTP, so its stick with the hub2 or get my own

As for losing my phone number yeah very happy, as I get 1 call every other too two months on it, so paying to receive one call every 2-3 months saves me a lot

The 8800 only has 10/100M Ethernet ports, so although port 4 can be configured as a WAN port, it will be restricted to 100Mb.

If you are only changing to Full Fibre 74 , then it will work. For anything faster than that , the 8800 will restrict the speed!

I was going to say that if your router supports PPPoE then it could be used on FTTP but @MisterW has given a better answer.

I would take the Hub2 and try it. Then, if the WiFi isn't good, enough look around for options.
