Broadband under 1meg when it rains!

Since September, in the days following rain my broadband drops from 30MBps (which is what I'm paying for) to under 1MBps. When the speed drop is so substantial, why do I need to do all the WiFi troubleshooting? Chatted to an openreach engineer I met who suggested rusting in the copper underground so there is a voltage drop exacerbated by flooded chambers. How can I talk to someone at plusnet to get this examined without spending hours on pointless speed tests?

@AnotherDave

You do not need to do wireless troubleshooting. Tests should be done using a computer wired to your hub with an Ethernet cable.

All you should need to do is a quiet line test by dialling 17070 and if noisy report a phone fault. If that’s OK then take the front off the BT master socket and plug your hub in here. Do the BT speed test then move on to the further diagnostics.
If you do this when the speed is low then it will be recorded so Plusnet can see it.

Total time required, less than half an hour.

Re: Broadband under 1meg when it rains!

Hi @AnotherDave,

I'm really sorry to hear that this has been happening. I've had a look over the account this morning and upon carrying out a test on the line, I'm not detecting any signs of an underlying fault. This isn't to say that this doesn't exist, just that we're not picking it up right now. Has it rained recently in your area? If so, can you remember when this last happened?
