Connection dropping, guest unable to connect, connected with no internet.

I've had Plusnet just over a month now, paid my first month's bill and I think that's sufficient time for the line to settle. It was dropping a lot in the first few weeks and it's been a little better now. My partner's son tried to connect to the WiFi but was told wrong password even though he followed it properly and all of us have it a go as well. We're more than 100% sure the password was correct but he still was shown the wrong password message.
Occasionally I am connected but told no internet. What is the problem with Plusnet? I'm obviously past the grace period to reverse my contract and I'm not really happy with the service, yet I fear I have to stay or pay the penalty for early disconnection.

@virgopearl Welcome to the forums. I know you have said you have been here 'just over a month', but I'm wondering from the problem description if you are properly authenticated. What does the router Help Desk page show as your user name?

Hi @virgopearl,

I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing issues with the Wi-Fi connections. I've had a look into your account and upon testing the line we're not detecting any particular issues with the setup, nor any underlying faults. As this is the case, I'd ask if you're able to try connecting via Ethernet cable to see if this makes any difference? As for the wireless side of things, I'd recommend splitting the networks that your router is operating on and we have a guide on how to do this here. I'd also recommend giving this a read as it may help.

Re: Connection dropping, guest unable to connect, connected with no internet.

I've split the wave but my guest hadn't tried logging in again. Also I've had my router in the same position from my previous provider and the connection was fine. It's been affecting connection to my TV as well for Netflix and Amazon Prime TV.

I'm sorry to hear splitting the channels hasn't helped. Please could you try connecting the TV to the router via an Ethernet cable to see if this improves the experience?

Re: Connection dropping, guest unable to connect, connected with no internet.

That's besides the point. I don't want cables running through rooms. That's the point of WiFi. I changed providers because of the competitive rates but honestly, seems hardly worthwhile paying for sub par services which needs me to run Ethernet cables all over the place.

Re: Connection dropping, guest unable to connect, connected with no internet.

Thanks for getting back to us @virgopearl

Appreciate that but there's a lot of environmental factors that can affect the wireless signal around your home.

Are the devices connecting onto the 2.4GHz or 5GHz wireless frequency when they're having issues?

If you've split the frequencies then you can connect to either one by going into the list of wireless networks on the device.

We're just trying to help you get to the bottom of the issue. Smiley
