Apart from the fact it would cost money the Cabinet has DSLM's in it which convert the signal for use over copper. You would need individual ones for your idea.
With FTTP the Optical Network Terminater (ONT) does not need to be beside the original Master Socket.

Ah, right, thanks for the info.
Understand now
So from the ONT box, what would then be needed to get a wired connection to a router in the centre of the house ?
I'm assuming the same issue of trying to hide a cable.
When they built my house, lounge at the rear, they placed the master socket in the rear room. I was able to easily hide my ethernet cable up the dry lined wall to a router placed high on a shelf for max Wifi coverage, and it works really well.
The problem I will have is routing cables horizontally is not as easy as vertically

@Kremmen The output from the ONT is just a standard Ethernet socket so you just need an normal Ethernet cable. There is nothing special or exotic about it.

Thanks
It's not the cable it's the tidy routing.
Knowing my house, I'd need quite a few metres of untidy conduit.
Thanks again.

Don't rule out an engineer managing to get the fibre cable to the location of your Master Socket. There is also the possibility of running it round the side of the house.
You won't know until the day of install. A good engineer will work with you if it's possible.
To confirm, you're aware you'll loose your phone number.

Thanks
I haven't used a landline for years since my mobile provider upped my allowance to 500 minutes a month.
Nearer the time I'll have to see how others achieve FTTP as there are quite a few houses the same design as mine with the lounge at the rear and a hall cupboard and stairs on the side the current cable comes in and where the new cabling would need to be.
Cable round the side wouldn't work as I have a front door, porch and paving at the front which will hinder satisfactory wiring. I learned that lesson from a few who allowed Virgin Media to wire them up and the cabling was atrocious both inside and out. Two ripped it out within days and cancelled.
