I had my FTTP install done on Tuesday, the guy from Kelly's put everything where I wanted it and even SWMBO can't see the cable on the outside wall.
Before, during and after the install I got several text messages from Openreach but most of them do not display on my phone, so I've no idea what they said.
It turns out that these messages are in fact MMS. Now I am fully able to accept that the problem lies with my device, but I haven't sent or received an MMS this side of the Millennium.
I was wondering if someone at Plusnet could ask OR why they use this antique messaging format.
Yes I know plain SMS is equally deprecated, but its ubiquity makes up for that.

Have you configured the GiffGaff APN settings correctly? https://community.giffgaff.com/d/2066679-the-giffgaff-internet-settings-guide-setup.
I've got something vagualy in the back my head about once having the APN settins on a phone automatically defaulting to the carrier ones, in your case, O2.

I`m due to have my Full Fibre installed tomorrow before 1:00pm so I`ll be mindful of these messages appearing on my phone. I`ve a Samsung S9+ but no idea if my APN/MMS settings are properly set or not as it`s not an area of my phone I`ve looked at. I`m with 02.

I've checked this out with our supplier management team and they have confirmed that these messages are sent as SMS. And are suggesting (like above) that this is likely device/network settings related where SMS are being converted to MMS. They have sent it to Openreach for a response anyway.
