Re: Does Plusnet Need To Change Settings So I Get FTTP Speed

Thanks. Is all making sense now. I’m thinking a bigger Ethernet from my box so can put router where I want and do away with the extenders.

Re: Does Plusnet Need To Change Settings So I Get FTTP Speed

Connect the primary node WAN port to the ONT.

I refer to the internet connection, hopefully this is the correct picture.  Page 17 of the attachment

The usnername would be yourname@plusdsl.net and the password (as used for the member centre) You do not need a VLAN setting if there one.

I would expect openreach would say you agreed to the position of the ONT, but you try asking for it to be moved.

Re: Does Plusnet Need To Change Settings So I Get FTTP Speed

Thanks for your detailed instructions. I will try this later and also get a new cable.

So if I am attaching the node to the ONT what about the router?

Sorry if a daft question but all this is new to me.

Thanks

Sorry I should have said.

The primary mesh node will be configured as a router so the Hub is no longer required.

you don't need it

Re: Does Plusnet Need To Change Settings So I Get FTTP Speed

Thanks. Took a while but I almost got there. Said my Password was wrong. I’ll leave it today as spent hours on it and try this again Tomorrow or get a bigger cable. Appreciate your help.

Re: Does Plusnet Need To Change Settings So I Get FTTP Speed

I’ve attached the node direct and is working fine. It would appear if I use the mesh I am still only getting half the speed.

I will leave and monitor it like this today. But am thinking best bet is getting the Ethernet cable to take the router the to front room.

At least I have options now and don’t feel trapped. Thanks for all your help. Angus

Re: Does Plusnet Need To Change Settings So I Get FTTP Speed

Hi,

I find it rather strange there is no improvment of speed when the mesh is connected directly to the ONT, I would have expected around the same speed as you had when the Hub Two was directly connected.

What etherent cable are you using between the ONT and mesh device or powerline adapter?

Re: Does Plusnet Need To Change Settings So I Get FTTP Speed

Oh my goodness you are/you are all amazing.

The problem was the cables. I had not appreciated some were not the correct spec.

I have now managed to set up the Node to the ONT and am getting the correct speed.

I may get an extension lead so use the router in the front of house later on but happy with this just now.

Apart from the fact this means wiring up an extension Ethernet thru the house are there any advantages to using the router 2 as opposed to the Node?

Thanks

Re: Does Plusnet Need To Change Settings So I Get FTTP Speed

This is good news.

The Hub two has improved wifi performance to previous plustnet supplied hubs, so I would use the device which gives the best wifi performance for your home. If you need to use any wired devices then the Hub Two will be best, you can still use the mesh node as before if that helps with wifi across your home.
