FTTP and IPv6

Hi

About to move from FTTC to FTTP as it is now installed here.

I believe that BT Openreach automatically enables IPv6 so is this now available on Plusne through the equipment provided?

Plusnet do not currently offer IPV6.

Re: FTTP and IPv6

Thanks @jab1

Very strange as it is automatically enabled by their own parent company!

Re: FTTP and IPv6

The Plusnet system is totally different to that of BT Broadband, and IPV6 is enabled at server level.

Re: FTTP and IPv6

@henryfairpo

IPv6 costs money. Separate servers from IPv4 and the need to run software to manage the connections between each.

PlusNet is the budget brand of the BT Group so doesn't spend money where it's not needed. The loss of business from those who need IPv6 is presumably less than the cost of implementing it.

Re: FTTP and IPv6

Hi Brian

Amusingly BT don't understand why Plusnet don't have it.

I'm going elsewhere as a result.

Re: FTTP and IPv6

BT Broadband and PN are run as two separate concerns, so BT CS wouldn't know anyway.
