I did manage to do this briefly and the download was 177Mb which is weird, because I've since put it back to how it was and its now at 550Mb again. So not sure what that is about.
Can confirm that all my ethernet cables are in fact CAT5e also.

I had done a factory reset recently yeah, but also just turning it off and on again when trying to get the IP to change. I haven't factory reset the ONT, is that worth trying?

Hey @ccxphoenix,
I haven't factory reset the ONT, is that worth trying?
If you can please do it is worth trying I have conducted a line test and I have found not faults affecting your service please let us know if this manages to resolve the issue.

@Marsh did your tests confirm that the sync rate at @ccxphoenix's ONT was 900Mbps ?, if not what was it ?
.

@outcast,
For FTTP lines we do not get the line sync speed however the line is profiled at 1000Mbs with no caps

@outcast I dont believe the ONT has a sync rate as such. The speed is controlled by the provisioned profile. In addition the router will always show 1000Mb to the ONT (providing the cable is cat5e or better!)
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

I have since 'soft reset' the ONT by pulling the power and plugging it back in and nothing has changed. I didn't want to factory reset it as I can't afford to be without internet
My next potential test will be to get a spare CAT6 cable and plug the router back in to where it was before directly into the ONT, and if there is some random issue with the current CAT5e cabled I guess.
Thank for all the help so far!

@ccxphoenix Fully resetting the ONT - by pushing a paper-clip or similar into the reset hole will not 'lose' internet, and may potentially solve the issue.

The fact that your upload speed is 109Mb probably confirms that your connection is still provisioned on Full Fibre 900,
and not accidentally gone to Full Fibre 500 as the upload would likely be limited to 75Mb if it had.

@jab1 Thanks for confirming - I only say that as I had read that it could lose its settings by doing that and then require an engineer to reset it. If that's not the case then I will give that a go at some point.

Well, I've had cause to do it two or three times and never had issues. Out of interest, where did you read this?

Mine's been in place around 10 years and I've never had cause to reset it, although it has been power-cycled several times.
