Hi jab1,
I think I have probably read most of the reviews you are referring to, and I agree with everything you say about their router, call centre being UK based, etc. Those are the things which led me to look into them and very nearly switch to them. But I don't like being lied to. I got the distinct impression I was being lied to. I try to take a balanced view, but I also have to listen to my feelings.
I really didn't want to stay with Plusnet at first, mainly because of the router, and the annual price increase, then because of the fears about where OR will place the boxes. I know the Hub Two is only wifi5 and mine is already 3 years old. But I have been a PN customer for more years than I can remember. Apart from being throttled for a few months during COVID and having to raise 4 tickets to get the speed properly restored, I have generally been looked after quite well.
Why would I live to regret staying with Plusnet? It's not a cheery thought. Thanks for that.
Which? are now saying that Plusnet is also a recommended provider, and has moved up to second place behind Zen. As of this month, Zen will have to stop saying they are the only Which? recommended provider.
If I have to buy a new router in the next two years, I suspect I will be back on this forum asking for advice on which one to buy and how to set it up!

As for “unsupported methods” (in respect of seeking TP feedback) I would suspect TP sour grapes, in that the “supported” methods garner revenue for TP whereas a simple invitation to leave a review does not.
Reading the negative reviews they have a common theme of entitlement and unrealistic expectations … typically a work from home user where the delays are inconvenient … but they are not prepared to pay for a business grade service which has better response times.

I was referring to an article in ISPreview dated 31st Jan 25. Is the OTS process not being reviewed? Have ISPreview got it wrong?

What do you mean by Ofcom - way off?
Ofcom - the communications regulator.
They spent around 2 years trying to specify the OTS system, then gave up and gave the industry around a year to implement a system! Unsurprisingly the industry failed to meet the original timescale but eventually the system went live in Sept 2024.
Is the OTS process not being reviewed? Have ISPreview got it wrong?
It IS almost certainly being reviewed but by whom ? If Ofcom are involved then don't hold your breath. In the meantime its still required to be used in its present form...

Most of the Zen reviews are uncertified, and as anyone can leave a review, this could mean some are fake.
And that is the very point, Trustpilot are seeking to infer that if they are not paid for the certified reviews that they might be fake, which is not evidence that they are fake.
One needs to consider that Trustpilot is there to make money, by whatever means, one of which is to charge for the review certification process.

Having taken a quick look at the Zen Trustpilot reviews they are 80% positive.

Thanks, @Townman - I suspected that might be the case with TP. I've not considered them a trustworthy 'review' site for a long while - along with Which? .
The negative 'reviews' don't surprise me either.

But.... reviewing your own site (a Danish-based one at that) is a tad crass?

The issue I have with Which?, is that they have the perfect opportunity to highlight to their subscribers, that there are better alternatives to the mainstream products and services that they review.
For example, using a category that we are familiar with, when they review ISPs, they will pick the top half a dozen (by customer base), typically TalkTalk, Sky, Virgin, BT, Plusnet, Vodafone, then the review rank orders those based on the least number of complaints. I don't care which is the least bad out of a poor selection, I want to know which out of all the other providers I should spend my money on.
.

@outcast I don't know what that 'review source' is like these days, but many years ago, when home computing had been running for short while, they issued a series of 'helpful guides' which made me laugh out loud. For some reason I can't recall now, I had a subscription, so got various bumpf from them.
I had been using computers as they were originally designed - for data-crunching - for 10-15 years before the WWW was 'invented', so I had a reasonable idea how they worked. The absolute garbage in those 'helpful guides' caused me to cancel my subscription immediately, and I have never trusted a word they published since.

Sadly I find Which? to be quite shabby and not fully informed.

Based on that, perhaps all the other 'scores' on Trustpilot should be subject to a multiplication factor of 0.84
(Not exactly the most 'positive' comment).
