@Phattmatt that's great news!.
The install process is shown as 'KCI2 Assure' which means that Openreach will arrange a survey (should be within a week) prior to giving a committed install date
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

It feels like at every step I hit another test of resilience and fortitude.
I tried to upgrade my existing account to take advantage of FTTP, but the price I am offered is more than a new customer would get, £34.99 versus £31.99. Ringing up Plusnet and I'm told the best they can do is £32.99...

Thanks Brian, got more joy from the PlusNet Customer Options Team than I did from the previous phone call.
They couldn't match the new customer monthly price I saw, but they did a one-off goodwill discount to get the total contract price down to effectively the same.
Engineer visit is booked for 13th November, my levels of optimism are slowly rising.

I dont want to dispel any optimism but that sounds very short timescale for a committed install date or is that just for the initial survey ? or maybe its just an estimated date ?

Email says:
"The engineer appointment to activate your broadband service is confirmed for 13/11/2024. The engineer should arrive between 08:00 - 13:00."
But I imagine this is subject to change depending on circumstances.

So do I , I'm afraid. My guess is that is the first available date for a 1-Stage install. Once the system realises its a KCI2 Assure , Openreach will change it...

My two year wait has come to an end 😁
A Kelly's engineer has just left and I have FTTP:
It appears that before the appointment today Openreach had been out and installed cabling from the street to one of the duct exits near my flat. The Kelly's engineer cabled from inside my flat and down to the duct exit and joined them up (grey box).
My thanks to everyone who provided words of encouragement and suggestions.
