I'm getting full fibre installed in a few days and heard that you need a double power socket for the ONT and the Wifi Hub.
Will an extension lead be sufficient? I don't really have any available double sockets.
Fixed! Go to the fix.

Yes, absolutely fine

The router is connected to the ONT via an Ethernet cable. As such it doesn't need to be near the ONT. If you have a better location and are happy to run cable then that might be your answer.
You might also have a choice or where the ONT is sited. There's flexibility on this if possible so speak to the engineer on the day.
