Re: Latest on FTTP?

@probedb

I'm afraid it's just a waiting game for you now. On the bright side of things PlusNet might have launched FTTP by the time it comes to you.

Keep an eye out for OR works. If you're fed by an overhead line they'll be hanging stuff from the poles. If U/G they'll be at the chambers.

Once the work appears finshed you just keep checking the Checker.

Re: Latest on FTTP?

Well the latest news hot off the press is now sometime later in 2022

https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2022/01/broadband-isp-plusnet-uk-confirm-fttp-to-launch-later-...

Remember a year ago Plusnet PR department said 2021 so don't bank on it.

Ex - Plusnet Customer (2009 - 2023) now with BT

Re: Latest on FTTP?

Thanks. I think I’ll renew on the basis they’ll let me upgrade for no penalty when the time comes. Interesting about the convergence’ of mobile and broadband. I’d use Plusnet Mobile, but the EE signal here is so bad I need a Signal Box https://business.ee.co.uk/help/network-and-coverage/signal-box/. Wifi calling on its own doesn’t work as it keeps cutting in and out.

Thanks Brian, yes I guess just a waiting game now. We'll see if that 2022 announcement comes to anything 😅

Re: Latest on FTTP?

Later in 2022 sounds perfect for me - my 2 year FTTP contract with BT expires early in 2023 so hopefully I'll be able to move back to Plusnet then 😊

Re: Latest on FTTP?

"Later in 2022" in PN speak sounds like "2023" to me (if then even).  Roll_eyes

Re: Latest on FTTP?

You might be right but https://www.btwholesale.com/assets/documents/help-and-support/broadband/broadband-one-legacy-migrati... and the fact that there is Paul Turnbull at BT who is responsible for FTTP across BT, EE and Plusnet give some credence to it being sometime in 2022.

Then all we have to do is wait for BTW to pull their fingers out and give us the option of FTTP....

Re: Latest on FTTP?

They said yesterday on Twitter they expect it to be in the second half of the year. Although it would be helpful if this had been included in the Press Release. They seem to be doing a lot on the non-retail side of the business https://www.btwholesale.com/help-and-support/broadband/broadband-one-legacy-migrations-for-non-whole... so it would make sense to get that out of the way first.72637AA7-73B4-4C13-A39B-C51C44FAD9A1.jpeg

Re: Latest on FTTP?

I just got an email from Plusnet titled 'You can now get Full Fibre'!

'Hurrah! Full Fibre is coming your way. While it’s not currently available to everyone, you’re one of the lucky few who can now get Full Fibre – our most reliable and most powerful broadband ever. Why? Because the line goes directly into your home.'

I live in the IG1 3 postcode area...

Details are Full Fibre 145 For only £30.99 a month 24-month contract. T&Cs apply

Re: Latest on FTTP?

@harryw66

No details are available on the PN website unless you know where to look.

Various speeds are available - not just the one you quoted.

Be aware that it is Internet only - no phone service. You lose your current phone number as it can't be transferreed out.

Re: Latest on FTTP?

I've completely given up on FF for now, no idea what state it's in. It's now 1Gbps on BT's wholesale checker, but TT are now offering 900Mbps, OpenReach says I can get 1Gbps, Zen offer 300Mbps and BT, Sky etc so I can't get it at all.
