Moving a ONT box

Hi.

I have full fibre and would like to know if there a procedure for moving my ONT to a different location?

We are looking to get a house extension which would mean the wall where the fibre enters the house will be demolished, so would like the ONT moved to a different room.

I assume this would require an engineer visit and is a chargeable event?

Does anyone or PlusNet staff know the process for this?

Thanks in advance

@minkey

Phone PN and ask for them to arrange a visit. I believe the current cost is £160.

If you're getting work done, consider putting in ethernet cables at the same time to help with distributing the internet signal around the house.

Is it just the ONT? If you are removing an exterior wall is there an external CSP box that will also need moving?

@minkey

I've just checked - this appears to be one of those occasions you can contact OR direct. See

Re: Moving a ONT box

@Baldrick1 - The CSP box location is not changing. There currently a black wire which comes from that and snakes around my house to where it enters the to be affected room  through the wall into a small white disc and then it goes to the ONT. To my mind, it should be a fairly straightforward move.

@bmc  - Thanks for the link. That may be an easier route than going through PN.

Re: Moving a ONT box

Or you could DIY the move.

Example of how to

Was a member for years, but moved from PN fttc to fttp from an AltNet. Getting 940Mb up and down. Happy to stay on here and try to help others. 

Re: Moving a ONT box

This like a very simple solution providing there's a wall to which the coupler box can be fixed. But if the wall is to be demolished....
Please,no connectors under the floor,
