@scottymc
Your order was placed through automation were as seffles was placed manually.
We could replace it but it would delay things as we'd have to cancel your current order.

Re: New Fibre Customer, Do I still need an engineer visit, Hub One Queries

I am also confused. I have an engineer booked for 4 December and I am being sent a Hub One.
1.) Will I need to be at home for the install and
2.) Will the Hub One plug into an extension socket without the need for further cabling (extension currently used for asdl link)?

@awarmishleg
Yes you'll need to be at home.
The engineer will still fit the filtered faceplate. You could connect to the extension socket but it may affect your speeds.

Thank you. Given the number of people who complain I wish to say:
ALL MY DEALINGS WITH PLUSNET HAVE BEEN EXCELLENT AND HUGELY BETTER THAN MY EXPERIENCE WITH OTHER PROVIDERS. Do not listen to the those who are never happy. Mistakes can happen but Plusnet are very good.

You won't be able to use the Hub One on the extension socket with the filtered faceplate on the master socket. Easiest thing to do would be to remove the filtered faceplate.

I appreciate the input but are you able to explain why I would need to remove the filter? The whole process seems to be smoke and mirrors as there is so much disagreement on this issue being posted. All information gratefully received. Just a confused user!!

Re: New Fibre Customer, Do I still need an engineer visit, Hub One Queries

I am assuming that your extension socket is wired to the removable lower front part of a modern master socket. If not, then you've probably got "star" wiring, FTTC will likely work badly, and the engineer who installs it ought to sort it out.
The Openreach filtered faceplate fits on to the back part of your master socket. The top socket is for the modem, and the lower socket for the telephone has the signal needed by the VDSL2 modem removed by the filter in the faceplate. The existing front part of the master socket then connects to the telephone socket of the filtered faceplate. So the extension socket would be connected to the telephone only part of the filtered faceplate.
The filtered faceplate also has terminals where extension wiring carrying the broadband signal can be connected to, you need a special "IDC" tool to insert a wire into them the proper way, I suppose it would only take about one minute for an engineer to do. Although how useful that would be depends on how many extension sockets you have, how they are connected, and whether the right kind of cable (twisted pair) was used.

Re: New Fibre Customer, Do I still need an engineer visit, Hub One Queries

@Matthew
I just ordered an upgrade from Broadband to fibre. And per online chat with your colleague I was told it would be a self install, but per online order process there will be an engineer coming to our place the 14th, who will need access to our property? We have an NTE5 master socket installed by BT engineer when we switched to plusnet last year.
Please can you confirm I will not have to be at home and waste a half day annual leave on sth that would probably take an engineer 5mins to fix? username is basvw.
cheers
