New Full Fibre connection

I recently received an email from Openreach that Full Fibre should be available in our road between now and December 2023.

Once Openreach have installed the necessary connections in the road and on the telegraph poles, how long is it likely to be before I can place an order with Plusnet for Full Fibre?

After I have placed an order, how long does it usually take before the installation takes place?

Re: New Full Fibre connection

I've previously been told you can preorder it 3 weeks before its available by a Engineer not sure how true that is though

@ToeKnee60

You can check the openreach services available for your landline phone number and address here

https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL you are looking for WBC FTTP. The text at the bottom of the displayed data may give more information for your address.

You may not be able to order FTTP until it is available at your address.

Re: New Full Fibre connection

@ghamilton123  That sounds impossible, if you don't know when it will be available how can you order it 3 weeks before, do you have a time machine? Never believe anything that an openreach "engineer" tells you.

@Dan_the_Van  has got it right, Plusnet use the same database so until it is shown as available no order will be accepted.

Of course there can always be errors,  I ordered FTTC when it appeared on the checker, not much happened. Openreach had neglected to connect the fibre at the head end exchange. FTTC was enabled a couple of months later.🙄

@ToeKnee60

After order, the installation date depends on engineer availabitity which probably varies from week to week. For example if there's a period of bad weather then engineers will be diverted to repair work which impacts on day to day operations.

It may also depend on whether any problems are expected or found with your install. These can sometimes be listed in the narrative below the resluts window on the Checker already mentioned.

Re: New Full Fibre connection

Thanks everyone.
I am already aware of the BT Wholesale checker and have been visiting the site every few days.
We no longer have a landline so I enter my address instead.
I have just looked at the Plusnet FAQ and they quote 3-10 working days from order. I am sure that you are correct about possible delays due to weather and manpower.

Realistically, I am probably looking at an installation in January, after taking the Christmas/New Year break into consideration unless Openreach do the work in our road in the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Hopefully Plusnet will have a January sale and have some good deals like in the current Black Friday sale.
