@outcast My thoughts, as the OP can get a service, albeit abysmal, is that the circuit needs rebuilding - there is obviously something wrong with it.

Yep, your right. They found a fault straight away so I have t have another day off work on Monday to wait for another engineer. I thought it was odd that they spliced in the next doors box outside but maybe that's how it works as long as there is a cable through, I suppose you can just use the same one.

How the hell did they splice into your neighbours connection?? It doesn't look like a circuit issue, which was my suspicion, more totally incompetent installation engineer(s).
