New customer - low speeds

Hi all,

Using My broadbandspeed and speedtest, my new connection is achieving 24~26Mbps down and 1.5-2.2Mbps up.

I was led to believe I'd be getting 60Mbps down and typically around 10Mbps up - this when the line was tested prior to sign-up.

I am connected by ethernet direct to the GigE connections at the back of the Hub One and connected directly to the master socket (with filter).

Phone line sounds very clean - no apparent disturbance.

I am reporting here prior to calling PlusNet customer service

Re: New customer - low speeds

@lewesian The only copper in the circuit is that between you and the cabinet (green box in the road) - the main trunking is all fibre. Don't quite understand your 'DSL from me' comment.

Re: New customer - low speeds

The connection over the copper from the Hub One to the cabinet is ADSL.

Re: New customer - low speeds

Hence why I mistakenly posted it in ADSL broadband.

I'd like to think that PlusNet have the light down the fibre to the cabinet sussed.

The ADSL hop is typically the more flakey part and where Telco's often throttle back.

I was hoping for some suggestions, but I'll just call them.

Thanks to all for comments and apologies for mis-posting

I don't think you quite understand the technology, but I'll leave you to your beliefs.

Re: New customer - low speeds

Why not explain what you think the link is to the cabinet over the copper to the cabinet?

Re: New customer - low speeds

I don't quite understand the question you posted above, but can I make a suggestion which may help me help you? Can you post a screen-shot of BT Broadband (hiding/obscuring your phone number) and the 'Advanced Diagnostics from BTW Performance Tester

Re: New customer - low speeds

Thanks for those two reports. Despite the BTW speed test claiming to be unable to identify a problem, you do have one, in that your upload speed is woefully lacking, and the Availability Checker suggests that you should be getting closer to 40 download.

They look a little inconclusive to me, so, with apologies for asking for more data as I am unable to see what PN Support can, could you (if using the PN supplied Hub), post the Help Desk page from that, along with the WAN log from the Event Log?
