Ping Has Gone Up

Hello everyone,

(I know I’ll probably get no help with this, so I’m not expecting any replies)

This evening when I was playing Fortnite online I noticed on the debug monitor on the ping was acting up. I was getting either the red or yellow X and there were red lines and the white line was going up a lot as well. As soon as I finished the match, I checked the server status as well as a website that lets you know if others are experiencing issues, but it was hard for me to differentiate if these were legitimate issues or not.

So I did a reboot of my router in hopes that would alleviate the issue and sure enough, it didn’t. I used an app called Ping Plotter on my iPhone and I did a wired test as well, and the ping sits between 40 - 50 ms and on the ping plotter it shot up in the 250ms I also tried todo additional diagnostics on the BT Whole Sale Speedtest page on a wired connection but it said it could not assist me further as it was unavailable. This makes it difficult to play online. I hope someone from Plusnet can help

Re: Ping Has Gone Up

Thanks for reaching out @Eatpower and I'#m really sorry to hear that you've been having issues with your service. Tests on the line this morning have picked up a fault on the phone networking, which will be having a direct impact on your broadband connection.

I've passed this across to Openreach, and we're hoping to have it both addressed and resolved by 23:59 on 21/01/2022.

I've raised an open fault ticket on the account, which you can both view and comment on for direct comms with our Tech Support Team here.

Re: Ping Has Gone Up

Hi Adam,

Thanks for letting me know. I have a question, is this fault a internal fault or is coming from my end?

I also need to make you aware within the last two to three weeks we’ve been having a lot of Open Reach engineers going into the grounds and messing with the wires in our road, I don’t know if this would have any bearings as to how the fault may have occurred.

Thanks again.

No problem at all @Eatpower

Possibly, though on our end, there's no knowing for sure. There aren't any major service outages in the area either Smiley
