Random connection drops after a power cut

Hi,

Since a power cut yesterday evening, my connection has been dropping randomly (though infrequently). I have had zero connection drops for weeks, and now I've had 3-4 short drops in the past ~20h after the power cut. Which makes me doubt it's a coincidence.

I've just reset the router, so will see if that helps, but please could someone on Plusnet side have a look if you can see anything that might be causing it?

Many thanks!

Re: Random connection drops after a power cut

You might get a faster result using the Plusnet "troubleshoot by text" service

Thanks! I did that, but looks like they checked the router at my old address(?) because the text message response I received displayed the old postcode. I only moved to my current address mid-December. The address on my account, at least where I can see, is correctly set as my new address.

I'm wondering if the frequent drop-outs were unrelated to the power cut after all, though, because since I changed the DNS on the router yesterday evening (during the nationwide PlusNet connection issue) I haven't had any fruther drops.

Having said that, I'd still appreciate someone to run some diagnostics to check it all looks good! Many thanks!

I can see that @willcutforth is currently active on the forum, hopefully he can look into -

  • why the troubleshooting robot is using your old address ?,
  • and run a line check for you at your new address !

Hey there @Sio not sure why it is spitting out your old postcode, I will have to get that raised for you. We need to book an appointment in to get an engineer out, when would you be free for one?
