Re: Solid orange light

@BD  You're confusing everyone now because you previously said Fibre to the Cabinet but now it's Fibre to the Premises.🤔 Can you tell us what it actually is?

I suspect it is probably FTTC with a separate Openreach Modem which is now not required with the hub one.

Re: Solid orange light

I'm sorry if there was any confusion caused there, I was typing one thing but thinking another. The product is Fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) and as you've hinted at the set-up I believe was in use and is no longer needed is the separate modem and router set-up. I tried editing my previous post as not to cause further confusion regarding the product but was unable to do so.

Re: Solid orange light

Many thanks. I followed your directions for points 1-3 and am getting a blue light and internet joy!

What next? Should I reconnect up to the fibre box?

Re: Solid orange light

Thank you, I am staying well away from the router and access point! What happens to the BT box? Will they come and collect it?

No, just find somewhere to recycle it - sounds like it’s dead anyway

No. Either return it to Plusnet, you can print out a returns label by following this procedure https://www.plus.net/help/broadband/returns/ or use your local authority recycling services.

Re: Solid orange light

Hi @Ben1, thanks for getting back to us and I'm glad to hear your connection is back up and running. I can confirm when testing there's no underlying issues being detected which hints the problem was being caused by the previous modem in use.
Should you have any issues with your connection moving forwards then please don't hesitate getting back in touch and we'll be happy to help.

Re: Solid orange light

Hello, I am pretty happy with my shiny new, replacement Plusnet Hub One. It's only failed a couple of times, and a restart seemed to fix things. Is there any point in finding me a BT Hub6 now? In other words, does the BT improve things that the Hub One can't do?

Thanks.

Re: Solid orange light

Hi @Ben1,

I'm glad to hear that the new Hub One is performing better than the previous router. As for purchasing a Hub 6 or Smart Hub, it's entirely up to you. Whilst we can't be responsible for every aspect of a 3rd party router, most routers will work on our network as long as they're FTTC enabled and not locked down by another ISP. There's been plenty of discussion on the forums over the years discussing the merits and pitfalls of various pieces of hardware so it may be worth having a look around some of these threads and reaching out to other users.

Re: Solid orange light

Boy, did I ever speak too soon. The router has been playing havoc with our network in the past few weeks. Random outages and frequent orange flashing, followed by solid orange, light on the router (which generally seems to be cured after switching the thing off for 30 minutes. Not ideal.)

I am happy that I have invested in a BT Hub 6, of which I seem to read only good things. It's coming on Thursday, and if it doesn't cure our network issues, I might be forced to look at other service providers.

Re: Solid orange light

Good morning @Ben1

Thanks for reaching out and I'm sorry to hear that you're still having problems with your Broadband service. Testing the line this morning do observe the random disconnections which have been happening over the last 7 days, though no underlying fault has been found.

If your new BT router does not fix the problem, let us know and we'll be able to get it raised with our suppliers to see if there's a fault on the Openreach network itself. Smiley
