Hello
i have recently upgraded to full fibre 300.
since install i have only received around 85-95Mbps (speed tested using Fast & ookla)
how to i go about making sure i am getting the full promised speed.
when i signed up my estimated speed was 300-320Mbps
minimum speed was 169Mbps
i am getting no where near either of these so feeling a little bit deflated after the anticipation of getting
good speeds for gaming
using plustnet supplied Hub 2 router (0.4m away from the open reach box) (i didnt receive a new router when upgrading)
2 main computers come directy off the back and both receiveing the same speed. (using 10m Cat 6 cables)
also connected to TPlink 8 way POE switch for various devices around the home (0.2m from router main uplink cable is cat 5e)
laptop used on all the cables coming from the switch and getting around the same as the 2 computers coming direct from the router (cable are cat 5 e or cat 6, max length is 28m and still getting 89Mbps max)
wifi devices are getting approx 30-50Mbps depending on device and where it is in the house
all eithernet cables are Cat 5e or better so are good for upto 1000Mbps.
any help is appreciated

"all eithernet cables are Cat 5e or better so are good for upto 1000Mbps"
Have you tried switching the cable between the router and the ONT with one of the other ones? The speeds you are getting suggest that it may only be syncing at 100Mbps and not 1000Mbps.
You could also try looking on the router's GUI. The sync speed should say 1000Mbps.

@dunks1980 as @Mr_Paul says, first thing to check is that all wired connections are correctly showing as 1000Mb.
To confirm the Hub and ONT connection is 1Gbps look here :- http://192.168.1.254/basic_-_status.htm WAN link speed.
For a LAN speed connection you can check Advanced Settings >Technical Log >Event log
At the time a wired device connects you should see something like this message "Wire Lan Port 1 up, Speed 1000 Mbps" depending on the LAN port being used.
Ignore this message "Wire Lan Port 1 down, Speed 10 Mbps" as this is the port resetting the auto negotiate speed to the starting speed of 10Mbps.

Hello
i have checked the logs and it appears to by Syncing at 1000Mbps to the router
the lights on the tplink Poe switch are green surgesting they are sync to 1000Mbps (accoring to the instructions)
the 2 computers connected direct to the router both have pre made Cat 6 cables so i doubt both are faulty.
i have also tried plugging the lap top in direct next to the router with a diffrent cat 6 cable and still getting the same 85-95Mbps speeds.
see snip below of the connection screen showing the router syncing at 1000Mbps and confirming fibre to the house.
only thing i have just noticed is the firmware is July 2023, has there been any updates to the Hub 2 since then and if so where can i download them to update the firmware inthe router ?

Your router firmware is the latest, and would not be an issue in any case. I'm slightly at a loss, but it appears to be an internal (in your home network) issue.

Hi Jab
thaks for the reply i am at a bit of a loss my self with this one, as i have said i have tried various diffrent cables, computers and wifi devices both direct cable to the router and using existing ones run under the floor or via the switch, also using wifi right next to the router.
i appreciate the router is saying i have a line speed of 1000 Mbps but that is clearly not being passed to the devices either wirelessly or via any of the cat 5e or Cat 6 cables i have been trying, (all of which theoretically should be good for 1000Mbps)
i have ordered some new Cat 6 cables and will try these when they arrive but i cant see how this is an issue from my home network.
its almost like the router is limiting whats going out to the devices regardless of what its got coming in from the outside network.

@dunks1980 You can test the FTTP connection directly, that is not via the router by setting up a PPPoE connection on a PC and connecting it by ethernet directly to the ONT. A quick search should give details of how to do it. If that gives you full speed the problem is either the router or your own network. FTTP generally runs at the expected speed or not at all.

Have you tried connecting the laptop or directly to the ONT - all you need to do is add the PPoE credentials (I think).

Try a Hub factory reset by pushing a paperclip or similar in the reset hole. Keep the switch closed until you get a green light.
