Hi,
I switched my router to PPPoE a couple of weeks ago, to check it was all working - which it has been.
FTTP was installed 3 hours ago, 3 green lights and engineer said that it's all working. However I'm getting PPPoE time outs. I assumed as it worked with the SoGEA connection it would be just plug and play.
Plusnet support have said it's a router issue.....I use a Fritzbox router
Does the authentication on FTTP get set up later on than the connection? I'm at a bit of a loss really what to do next.
Fixed! Go to the fix.

You'll need to configure the router to reflect this and use WAN port and not the modem port.
If it helped click the thumb
If it fixed it click 'This fixed my problem'

@dvorak My SoGEA was using the inbuilt DSL until a couple of week ago, but as per my first line in my post
I switched my router to PPPoE a couple of weeks ago, to check it was all working - which it has been.
Which worked fine for my SoGEA connection it is now not for the FTTP. The only differance is now the ethernet goes into the ONT and not the BT FTTC modem

Have you powered off and restarted the Fritz!box, so it picks up the new settings?

It's had a couple of reboots, not full power off and back on though. I'll do that now.

@deano7777 that sounds like your FTTP connection hasn't been completed by BTwholesale yet.
Have you received confirmation from PLusnet that you order is complete ? If you have then I suggest you call customer services

that's what I thought , but when I called plusnet support they "checked" and advised it should all be working. As I was using a 3rd party router they'd not heard of suggested it was that 😂
I advised them I was getting PPPoE error Timeout
and asked if BT still had work to do.

Just as a point of interest, I thought the installation engineer was supposed to verify the connection was OK before leaving - I know mine did.

He said the fibre connection was working and connected and I'd have a decent speed.
I guess he's getting all the leg work done and then going to the exchange ? is that even needed these days ?

He should have asked you to try the connection on your laptop/desktop before leaving - and no he does not need to visit the exchange, FTTP does not go through it.

@deano7777 no, there's no need to go to the exchange.
Aa @jab1 said, the engineer should have checked that the connection was working with your router
