Stability Profile Change

Hi

I have been with Plusnet since August 2021 and our line has been very stable and was stable with our previous provider too. We have had absolutely no dropouts at all, however, the sync speed has always been slower than our previous provider TalkTalk and I am putting this down to the profile that's on the line as standard with Plusnet.

I can see from another post that a staff member @Gandalf placed an order for the line profile to be changed for another customer which helped them and improved the speed on their line, can an order please be placed to move my line from Stable to Standard too please?

Re: Stability Profile Change

Hiya @stuf83, thanks for getting in touch. I'm really sorry that you have experienced sync speeds lower than a previous provider.

I have tested your line and can see the current sync is 64.8mb and the profile is showing as 'speed', so looks like speed is already prioritised.

Can you advise what sync speeds you were previously seeing?

Re: Stability Profile Change

Thanks for your reply.

With TalkTalk I was getting 70meg. Looking at the kitz page that your colleague referred to with the broadband line profiles it states that the standard profile is the default for talk talk.

As you’ve said the line is set to speed can this be double checked tas seems strange that it’s slower on Plusnet vs Talktalk? I’m still using the same router and no wiring or configuration changes have happened since switching to plusnet

Re: Stability Profile Change

I think that posting up your router’s stats may provide more of an insight, plus if you have a copy of the stats before you moved across to us, that may be even more useful to compare things against.

If we’ve provisioned you on Openreach’s speed stability profile then that’s the fastest. It’s possible that you were on a 3dB SNRM target with TalkTalk, which is controlled by the automated dynamic line management (DLM) software at the cabinet (green box in the road).

When you move between providers, the SNRM target is generally reset automatically to the default of 6dB. Having a lower target means your speed is faster. Unfortunately we can’t manually adjust this, but if that’s the case then I’d expect over time should your line remain stable with no errors, DLM may provide a 3dB target again.

This is my personal Community Forum account to help out around these parts while I'm at home. If I'm posting from the 1st March 2020, this means I'm off-duty with no access to internal systems.
