Transfer from Sky

Hello,

Today I transferred my FTTC broadband from Sky to Plusnet. Main reason I wanted a static IP.

I connected my Frtizbox yesterday in anticipation of the move thinking it would go live this morning. It actually went live at 17:00.

I'm slightly confused as I assumed the transfer would cause a DLM reset. In fact no reset occurred and there were no disconnections since I plumbed the Fritz in yesterday morning. More than 24 hours with no errors. In fact I had to reboot after receiving the email stating service was active as the connection did not drop and I had no IP address.

I now have an issue in that as I was fiddling with the wiring yesterday my original throughput / attainable has dropped by 10mbps. I had previously and for a very long time had 80/20 with sky.

I phoned support and unfortunately the agent was not technical and could not help saying everything was working. This is true by not to my expectation.

So my question is, should the transfer have caused a DLM reset and 10 day learning period or will it no just sit at 10mbps lower than with Sky?

If anyone know how to attain a DLM reset I'd appreciate some help. Pic attached showing DSL status.

Kind regards

Re: Transfer from Sky

@Temple1970  This is a quite common scenario, there may well have been a DLM reset but that would also remove G.Inp error protection which results in a lower sync speed. The best thing to do is wait for a day or 2 ( note not a 10 day training period - there is no such thing). If your speed has not changed by Monday get onto Plusnet to check things out.

Re: Transfer from Sky

Hello RealAleMadrid,

Thank you for replying to my post.

To confirm, you suggest that it's common for a DLM reset to happens when moving providers?

If this is the case and a DLM reset does happen which also removes G.INP then this has not occurred as it shows on with 45U 46D.

I was under the impression from reading the literature that DLM is more sensitive to reboots and power disconnects for the first 10 day.

Many thanks

Re: Transfer from Sky

I believe the target snr is also reset back to 6db, so if your line had been stable in the past and the target snr lowered to 3db then thatvwould account for some speed loss.

Were you using the same router with Sky ?
