Trying to decide whether to stick with PN for FTTP

I've currently on FTTP with PN, and I go out of contract in about a month. Ideally I'd like to migrate to FTTP and stay with PN, but:

1. My upgrade offer is the 145M product at £36.99 a month, which PN seem to be offering it to new customers at only £26.99 a month. This gives me the impression that I'm being ripped off and at £36.99 a month, PN is more expensive than many of its competitors, making me very unlikely to stay with them. 

2. I'd like to migrate my existing number to a VOIP provider, but this doesn't seem possible regardless of who I get FTTP from (at least if I switch to FTTP in the near future). 

Am I misunderstanding the situation regarding migrating my number, and does anyone know if this situation is likely to change in the near future?

Call COTS ( customer options ) on 0800 013 2632 , they should be abke to give a better offer .

As to porting your number, its not possible to port at the same time as changing to fttp BUT it is now possible to port for up to 31 days after the upgrade. So if you request the port as soon as fttp is installed  then you should only be without the phone for a few days.

Is that a typo or are you already on the FTTP TRIAL?  Just double checking, however I would have expected that the trials FTTP users were way out of contract by now?

If your are still on the old PN FTTP trial, I believe that there are different arrangements available for transferring / retaining your phone number when "upgrading" to the "production" FTTP products.

You're quite correct - it was a Typo - I'm currently on FTTC.

I had a FTTC contract with PN with 15 months to run. I also had a wired local telephone plus a VOIP phone from Vonage that has unlimited local and international calls. When FTTP was offered, PN initially could not offer a home phone. BT offered to pay up to £300 to buy out my PN contract. As I prefer PN service, in the end I arranged for Vonage to port my local number to them ( ditching my other number) and did a FTTP deal for 2 years with PN (500mbps) that is a little above BT’s offer . I now use Vonage VOIP at about £15 a month including unlimited U.K. and international calls using the number I have had for years with BT then Plusnet. Vonage do a U.K. package at about £10.50 a month and supplies a little box that attaches to the router into which a normal phone can be plugged. I use an answer base wireless set of 3 Panasonic ones - now have a spare set! No wires and I have a phone with old no used Bt doctors etc

PS my number was ported a day after FTTP installed. If you choose Vonage (advantage is that if in future you change to another ISP they still work ok- there are other VOIP providers) . That way your Vonage contract is a folling monthly one separate from any ISP. No long term contract for phone . BT would supply or take over your phone but with a VOIP that , I, suspect, would be sub contracted to someone like Vonage
