Upload speed is a bit reduced.

I have noticed a bit of a fall off with my upload speed.  It was hovering around 8 Mbps for a long time (years), but now I notice it is only around 5 Mbps.  I have the Unlimited Fibre Package.  The download speed is around 36 Mbps, which is fine.  As I run some websites from a server set up the higher upload speed is appreciated.  Could someone run a check on this please?

Re: Upload speed is a bit reduced.

Hi @Bluesplayer,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the speeds. I've run a test on the line and nothing seems to be out of the ordinary, though I can indeed see the upload speed is reaching the router at 5.8Mbps. Has anything changed in the setup near the router lately?

Re: Upload speed is a bit reduced.

As far as I know nothing has changed.  What did change is that I was offered a cheaper 18 month contract and accepted it.  This was back in May of this year.  I think the slower speed might have kicked in around then.  The contract was for the same Unlimited Fibre I had before, though, I think.

Re: Upload speed is a bit reduced.

Hi @Bluesplayer, thanks for getting back to us. I can confirm there doesn't look to have been any changes on the account or our side which will have resulted in the lower upload speed. Although we can see the upload speed has been higher previously, we're unable to raise upload speed issues with our suppliers as we don't guarantee set upload speeds. Having said this, I can also see we're only currently getting 39.7Mbps download to the router which looks to fall below the 44.2-62.2Mbps download estimates we have for your line. In which case then, I'd recommend we look into and investigate the download speed issue as more than likely as we resolve this the missing upload speed also returns as we usually see.

I'd recommend first of all if you haven't already to plug your connection into the test socket and seeing how the speeds look from there.

This rules out internal wiring, face plates and extension sockets as being the cause. How to locate the test socket and set your connection into it can be found here:

Please let us how the speeds look in this set-up and if the speed issues look to persist then we'll happily help progress this further for you.

Re: Upload speed is a bit reduced.

OK, thanks.

I will try the test socket and see how it goes.
