Websites being laggy as hell

Seems tonight has been shady when trying to get to some websites, Discord is not connecting, Crunchyroll etc. Others are fine.
Is there a problem with the lines tonight?

Even this forum is brutally slow to load. But sites like Youtube, BBC etc work just fine.

Don't see anything bad on router even in the logs. So I can only assume something is up with the DHCP server, even using Google's DNS servers doesn't help in the slightest.

Re: Websites being laggy as hell

Something's certainly amiss.

I just noticed lots of websites are timing out, but I can do DNS (I don't use PN's). Tried resetting the PPP connection. I was about to power cycle the fibre thing until I noticed Reddit still works just fine (lucky me... 🤔)

Feels like someone dropped a big pipe somewhere. I suspect sabotage from far-away lands...

...and just like that... it's back. Including here loading at normal speed.

I wonder if something is up with pathing on a route, I will check out some tracert's and see if anything happens that way.

Re: Websites being laggy as hell

Yeah there we go. Maybe a server along the route was temp upgraded or something and all traffic going that way couldn't get through.

EDIT: Would have been good to try and catch the trace while it was happening, oh well Tongue

Re: Websites being laggy as hell

I've still got some issues.

I run my own DNS and have been unable to contact authorative servers so my DNS resolution isn't working, I've had to flip over to cloudflare to be able to resolve.

Seems like some strange routing going on somewhere

My recursive DNS seems OK; pihole + unbound.

Re: Websites being laggy as hell

Mine seems to have gone back to normal now but definitely had a period of 15-20 minutes where I couldn't resolve anything. It may have been longer as I do cache for an hour.
