line fault AGAIN

I am getting random disconnections on my router.

And occasional phone line cord errors.

I have done a quiet line test on my master socket,

On the Internal master connection.

It has a intermittent crackling noise.

My phone line was fixed last year.

I did not want a join in the line, but that was the fix

They did.

I have made contact by text, to Plusnet

and it says that there

Is a fault on the line and it will be looked at within 3 days.

If the line is faulty again, Can I insist on a new line from the pole.

It has been fixed twice in the last couple of years by joining.

Which seems to fail.

Re: line fault AGAIN

Alas the tele-gremlin can disrupt the lives of men.

The crackle that torments you is the gremlin giggle again.

Though even mighty Gandalf of Plusnet you beseech --

His magic's almost powerless against that Openreach.

So when their minion cometh, only one thing can you do --

Serve up the tea and biccies: Pray connect from pole to you.

Good luck!

Re: line fault AGAIN

Thanks a lot for getting in touch @vfr750 and I'm really sorry to hear that you've been having problems with your line. Testing it this morning has found something we call a loop fault, which is likely caused by a short circuit with the internal equipment within the property.

Engineer notes on the open broadband fault have also shown that the line is fine up to the PCP, and that an internal visit will be required for further investigation here. Please respond to the open ticket advising when you'd be free for a visit.

Re: line fault AGAIN

I am waiting for an appointment to be booked.

If it is as I suspect a line fault again.

Can I insist that they replace the entire section from the pole to my master socket.

As I am fed up with the so called fixes only working for about a year.

Thanking you  vfr750

Re: line fault AGAIN

Hiya @vfr750,

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience this fault is causing and that it has occurred previously.

It would be down to Openreach's decision if they would recommend and carry out that work to resolve the fault.

I can see that our faults team has booked an appointment for tomorrow and they will be back in touch after that point to discuss the next steps forward.

Please get in touch if you need any further help in the meantime.

Re: line fault AGAIN

I have had openreach out today,

sods law not fault showing except internet speed needed resetting.

The fault seemed to show up after heavy rain,

but it is a sunny day so impossible to find the fault,

that was showing last week on the line test.

no faults on any internal wiring .

and perfect sync on the test kit.

so I was told to keep an on it ,

and if the fault returns call them back.

Re: line fault AGAIN

I am sorry @vfr750l, if the fault returns when it is raining the best step at that point would be to raise the fault again and book an appointment for a day when it is most likely to rain.

Drop me a message if it happens again and I will take the steps to do this for you.

Re: line fault AGAIN

Hi there,

I'm really sorry to see you're having issues again with your phone and broadband.

I've tested your line today and the tests are showing a massive amount of errors on the line. I've passed the fault back to our suppliers and it's currently in hand with their diagnostics team.

They'll either send an engineer to investigate externally or ask us to book another engineer visit with you. As soon as we know more we'll let you know, this should be within the next 48 to 72 hours.

Feel free to post back though to let me know how things go from your point of view.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Hi @vfr750

I've just checked back and we've been asked to arrange an engineer visit with you.

Could you drop a reply onto the ticket Here with when you'll be available?

If you can post back once you've responded, I'll make sure we book the engineer as soon as we can.

Re: line fault AGAIN

The fault is getting worse.

I have now got no land line calls working,in or out.

and slower internet speeds again.

I hope they can find and fix the fault this time.

Re: line fault AGAIN

The engineer has had to replace the line from the telegraph pole to my property.

I ran it through my loft so it has no joins in it, this time.

All seems to be working fine now,

will I get any compensation for all the inconvenience
