Re: Ongoing World of Warcraft issues

ALL

It sounds like the fix we put in place isn't working.  HOWEVER, if you are seeing problems, adding a static IP to your account should fix it (and has in all the cases we've seen).

You'll need to pay a £5 one off charge for it, but post on here once you've added it and @Gandalf or one of the people working with him will arrange for a refund  (Unless you decide you want to keep the static).  I think you can do it from here: https://www.plus.net/my.html?action=myconnection  (or if not, call in or chat)

We'll pick this back up and try and work out why we're still seeing the problem next week.  (I'm out on Monday, but @JonoH should be around and will pick it back up)

Sorry peeps!  We'll keep looking at it.

Re: Ongoing World of Warcraft issues

Hi there, This is a note to let you know I have purchased a staticIP address for the sames reasons this thread exists, such as disconnected from WoW and the instance not found etc. As such I would like a refund for the necessity for the use of this service.

Ultimately, my time using PlusNet hinges on this as I am on the rolling month to month since my contract has been seen out and as an avid wow player I am looking for a solution asap. Ill keep the thread updated with my progress on WoW and the refund.

Many thanks to the staff input on this. I appreciate you may be the front end of this and we gamers can get a little cranky. Smiley

Re: Ongoing World of Warcraft issues

Hey all. Catching up on the posts here.

@DrakeCore, static IP has now been applied which means your connection will be making an alternative route (Can one call it a shortcut?) across our network. Keep us posted on how your next gaming sesh goes.

@Mackem1973, glad to hear the static IP has fixed this for you. I've applied a £5 discount to your next invoice to cover the static IP charge you'll see on your bill, so effectively you won't be charged it.

@entropy456, looks like our support team added a static IP free of charge earlier today, how are things now?

@rincewind81, an observation we're noticing is that it's affecting a lot of games including Path of Exile. I've added an additional discount of £5 to your next invoice. Let us know how it goes.

@Alex yeah adding a static IP is definitely just a workaround.

A fix was tried but looks like it didn't fix it so we're still looking into it.

@Leedechan2331, £5 discount has now been added to your next invoice.

I appreciate you may be the front end of this and we gamers can get a little cranky.

I know the feeling. Let us know if the static IP fixes the problem (Or if it doesn't?)

@georgerob94, Yay I'm famous. Although I don't recognise his name (I think?), but I do recognise the names of the guys on his team upstairs. Small world? I've added a £5 discount to your next invoice to cover the static IP charge you'll see on there.

 just want to say thank you to him great customer service , and i hope to one day have the pleasure of ganking his high mountain tauren!

We'll see what he says about that. Grin

I've found him and his line manager emailing this onto them, I'm sure they'll be happy to see this.

Thanks for the feedback and your kind words.

Hi,
Since I called up and paid £5 for the static IP would I be able to get that discount too please? Smiley

Hi there,

I have been having the same issues as everybody else and have applied a static IP address to my account.

Thank you as always for your customer service, it never fails to be top notch and why I have been a loyal customer for several years now

I've had no issues since the fixed IP was applied earlier today - fingers crossed it continues!

Re: Ongoing World of Warcraft issues

@Gandalf

Not sure what the ongoing status of my connection is now?

My wife reported that yesterday morning whilst I was out that she had another repeat of the World Server Down issue and portal issues. This would be between 10.00 and 10.45am yesterday.

Do I have a static IP at the moment. If not could I moved to one please?

Re: Ongoing World of Warcraft issues

@EmilyC, no problems Cheesy

@Woody3005, welcome to our community forums. I've added a £5 discount to your next invoice now offsetting the static IP charge you'll see on there. Let us know how your gaming goes.

@entropy456, woo-hoo I'm glad to hear that.

@mov, this is odd you've been on a static IP since Thursday at around 8pm. Could you run another traceroute/winMTR?

Re: Ongoing World of Warcraft issues

@Gandalf could this be a red herring? It was one instance. I was on without issue all last night.

Re: Ongoing World of Warcraft issues

@Gandalf

I've got PlusNet fibre round my parents - I am happy to test it round there (just got to figure out where my external HD is as it is a 40Gb install, may just bring my laptop back home to copy it across actually).

I don't have PlusNet where I live (am not far from theirs - 10 minute bus journey).

Pretty certain we don't have a static IP, and I don't want ours changing. Just thinking if you make any further changes and need them tested, you'll need someone not on static to tell you if it works. Problem I see is the more people you change over to a static then the less you will have available to test the underlying problem.

Happy to send logs, etc.

If you don't have my username then PM me and I'll send it to you. I know the old forums used to link username to poster, not sure how Lithium now works.

Just an idea really.

EDIT: I'll try it tonight or tomorrow. Definitely over the weekend, just to confirm whether it works or not for me.

Re: Ongoing World of Warcraft issues

replying to your post @Gandalf as probably because im new I don't have a 'make new post' option - talked to tech support last night and they weren't aware of the WoW issue but asked for a static ip address and received one no problem - not had any problems since - would it be possible to have the same discount applied to my account for this issue.

Thanks

Gary
