Re: Faulty phone line (revisited)

You will properly find that an OR engineer has displaced (created a fault on) your connection somewhere along the line back to the telephone exchange.

Could have opened a 'top hat' in a footway box to investigate someone else's fault.

Was a member for years, but moved from PN fttc to fttp from an AltNet. Getting 940Mb up and down. Happy to stay on here and try to help others. 

Re: Faulty phone line (revisited)

Has anyone actually digested what I've been reporting in detail about being unable to use my phone?

Matthew Wheeler:
I did respond to the ticket as you requested....

(10:22am, Wednesday 5 Jun 2024) You added:
To progress your fault, we need to arrange a engineer visit. Please reply to this message with 3 available timeslots for an engineers visit. The available timeslots are weekdays either between 8am & 1pm or between 1pm & 6pm.
Kind regards,

There is an urgency to get my phone fixed (so that I can access my bank account). May I list between 1pm & 6pm today and both between 8am & 1pm and 1pm & 6pm tomorrow?
Thanks,

Re: Faulty phone line (revisited)

That shouldn't have happened @caulbox and I'll make sure feedback gets passed on regarding this

Our tests are now showing a external issue so the good news is you won't need to wait in for a visit at this moment in time

After the 3rd of November I will have a limited presence here as I have moved to a new role

Re: Faulty phone line (revisited)

Once again I'm now able to add a (hopefully final) follow-up on a very happy note 😊

Surprisingly another engineer (Mick) did visit at 10 am this morning. After testing my internal wiring he said there was no fault he could find here, and the source of the problem would probably be outside. He ventured outside to check further, and after about half an hour he returned to test my line again, and inform me that my phone was back to normal - which it is (including what seems to be a return of my former very stable line attenuation value).

mystreet1 - I didn't respond to your post in this topic earlier because frankly it was beyond my understanding. But I was left curious. So when the engineer had fixed my phone line, I took the opportunity of reading your comments to him, and he seemed to nod in agreement. So belated thanks to you also.
