Find out who called my Mum

My Mum is 83 years old and has been receiving some silent calls over the last few weeks and months. Today she received 3 calls. In the first one the male caller asked about my Dad, who died almost 8 years ago. They then called a second time and said something that upset my Mum (she won't tell me what the caller said). Then they called a third time and said they were me (her son, and they knew my name) and tried to explain away the difference in voice by saying they were in the car. My Mum tried 1471 but they withheld the number. Is there any way we can find out which number made these calls?

@asm46598 Unfortunately, the phone systems can't/won't divulge numbers if they are withheld.

@Champnet True, but unless there is a direct threat to life, I don't think  even they would pursue this.

Will get her a phone which supports caller display, and tell her to not answer calls that are withheld.

@Champnet Probably a wasted call, as , AIUI, it involves getting a warrant.

A friend of my mother in law has some sort of call intercept on her line. Not sure what the equipment is that she has but you have to identify yourself to the contraption first, then it puts the call through to you to decide whether to answer it or not. The operator used to also provide this service for abusive/ threatening calls many moons ago.

Not only will a phone with "Caller Display" show the calling number, but if that number is associated with a name in its local phone list, then the name will display - like on your mobile - so she wouldn't even need to remember your number!
