If you've got any existing GAP compatible DECT handsets then it may be worth looking at the Gigaset N300IP base unit. They can often be picked up for around £25-35.
I agree that the Gigaset N300IP is a good recommendation, and it still gets firmware updates from Gigaset.
I've had mine since 2013, currently with five DECT handsets, and it is still working well.
The N300IP has BOTH VoIP capability AND an analogue phone connector, which can be used simultaneously, and is ideal for anyone still with a POTS connection looking to transition to VoIP.
My hesitation with recommending it though, is that it's been out of production for years, and buying second hand you might be buying some electronics which were manufactured as far back as 2010 - which is quite old in technology terms but equally Gigaset do manufacture using professional grade long life components (such as capacitors).
As an alternative you might want to look at the Gigaset N510IP, which is a more recent model, still available from shops, but not in the current product line at Gigaset. The N510IP is very similar to the N300IP, but doesn't have the analogue phone interface so is only suitable if you have already converted to VoIP. It comes with a mains PSU but also can be powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet) - so might make mounting the device in an ideal location easier if there isn't a nearby power socket, and they sell for £25 - £30 on eBay.
If you want a current model from Gigaset, then the Gigaset N610 IP PRO is probably the model to look at, but more expensive

I'd forgotten about the N510IP, good point. Although its still suitable for people who are porting a landline (and thus no need for a landline connection in future) albeit can't be used whilst the landline is being ported, to give a no-break service.
Never looked at the N610IP but on paper it looks good but a tad expensive.

I've got an SL450A go which is several years old, bought to replace a previous Gigaset after a lightning strike killed the earlier one. The handsets from the earlier one work on the SL450A and it has voice and VOIP capability. It also has an app that pops up missed calls on my mobile. I have it serving the analogue line and a ported number from our last house served by Sipgate. I would definitely buy another Gigaset, it can have several different VoIP hosts so should be good for years to come.
