Home phone package Question 229530824

Hi I had an email sent to me today Our Support Team have opened Question 229530824 to track an issue on your account.

Hi Thank you for bringing this to my notice

I thought i had taken the unlimited package when i signed up but i see checking my records i was wrong

I have now changed this on my account but will this have a big effect on the monthly costs as i am so close to the start of the contract?

I must have been distracted as I have had to take over the control of the bills as my husband use to do this but has now had to go into a home for full time care

I hope you can help me with this matter

Re: Home phone package Question 229530824

OK. On the E & W package, the cost is £5.71/month, the Unlimited UK & mobile is £10.28/month, but if you are going to be making a lot of calls during the peak times (07.00 to 19.00Monday - Friday), the  extra £4.70/month is worth it - per minute charges are quite high.

Just remember to hang-up and redial after 58-59 minute, or standard call rates will kick in.

Re: Home phone package Question 229530824

I have made the upgrade i am just worried that my monthly charge is go up a lot due to this change?

I have tried to contact customer services about this with no luck

i was paying 27.70 so the change should make it about £33 a month but the email says the new monthly plan will be £52?

Think i have made a mess of things here

not dealing with this sort of thing until my husband was taken into care

Re: Home phone package Question 229530824

You have been slightly misled there, Barbara. Unfortunately the email advice that your charge are going up to that level is misleading, as it does not take into account any discounts you have negotiated/been given as a new customer. By my calculations, your bill after the change has taken place - from the next month, as changes only happen at month ends for this type of alteration, your monthly charge should be  £32.27.

If for any reason the next bill is above that, either call in, or post on here again, and someone will help.

Re: Home phone package Question 229530824

A word of caution though, and I may well be wrong, but I think the change will not apply until the next billing date.

So, unless anyone confirms/corrects/denies it may be prudent with your daytime calls until your next billing date.

Re: Home phone package Question 229530824

Another thing to bear in mind is that the call package is separate from your broadband/line rental deal and, unlike that deal, can be changed at any time and the change will apply from the next billing date, i.e it is on a monthly basis. Therefore, if you find that you do not make daytime calls you could revert to the evening and weekends package. But as has been said above call charges (set up fee plus the per minute rate) for calls not covered by call packages are expensive and it would not take many calls to exceed the extra for the Unlimited UK & Mobile calls package.

Covered in post #6.

@jgb Think I also covered what you are saying.
