Re: Landline number porting rejected

There is no point in resubmitting the port request as the number is not
currently on the transfer list.

AFAIK there is no such thing as a transfer list, maybe @Gandalf will confirm/deny ?

Only your current supplier can re-instate it ready to port.

As @Gandalf said (much) earlier Openreach originally got it wrong and have corrected the status.

This is the 3rd time they have told me that the only possibility is to reconnect the phone line.

That's just not possible, Openreach have had a stop-sell on WLR since Sept 2023 !! and both A & A and Magrathea are fully aware of that.

If only Magrathea would talk to the Openreach/BT porting desk this could all be resolved.

@Gandalf I know this is a big ask and its really not PN's responsibility BUT is there any way to get Openreach to explain to Magrathea ?

Re: Landline number porting rejected

As advised to me by someone senior in BT Consumer Division, there is the pan-industry number porting forum.

Someone is playing silly beggars here - all CPs have access to internal escalation routes - A&A and Magrathea should be using them, not passing the issue back to the user.

@Peter-J

You could try escalating the issue with AA-ISP.

From:

https://www.aa.net.uk/etc/contact/

We try hard to provide the best possible service to our customers. however, if you feel we are letting you down in some way then please do let us know and 'escalate' your case with us. You can ask to speak to a Team Leader on the phone or over IRC and you can email our Team Leaders on escalations@aa.net.uk

Re: Landline number porting rejected

@Peter-J any progress? My port has just completed successfully (sorry!) so I wonder if comparing how we each went about it might help tease out what's gone wrong with your port. I've summarised my porting process in another thread here.

Re: Landline number porting rejected

@Lawrencium103

Sadly not. I wrote quite a long email to A&A detailing the problem with Magrathea's suggestion of reconnecting my telephone line, and pointing out that they didn't seem to have spoken to BT (the number Range Holder). They replied a day later with:

They wll not do that, if the number is not available to port, there is
nothing further that can be done.  Sorry

I have repeatedly told them that the number is available to port, but I don't think the issue has been escalated at Magrathea, and the A&A sales people seem unwilling to take it up with them.

Openreach have confirmed, via people on here, that the number port should be successful, so I have placed an order with Voipfone and will see if that works.

Re: Landline number porting rejected

@Lawrencium103

 This morning I received an email from Voipfone to say that the port had been rejected, for the same reason given to Magrathea (not in service). They asked me to confirm when the line was ceased so they could query it.

Within the next two hours, the port had been accepted, completed and the line was usable. A great result by Voipfone!

I had suggested to A&A many times throughout that a query would have to be raised with BT/Openreach, but either they didn't communicate that to Magrathea or Magrathea didn't act on it.

Re: Landline number porting rejected

@Peter-J  are you going to feedback your success with Voipfone to A&A ?, and ask why the A&A system failed you ?

Re: Landline number porting rejected

@Peter-J Wow! Just wow! A&A have served me well and I love the flexibility of their control panel, but well done Voipfone!

A&A dropped the ball here: even one of their own broadband customers has had issues porting their number to VoIP: https://social.aa.net.uk/@aaisp/113911946799379420
