Want to get ahead of the game, currently on ADSL with phone from PlusNet after moving phone in from BT some years ago to save money long before digital switchover was mentioned.
Don't use a PlusNet router my own kit no issues, got no plans to plug a router in to get PlusNet voice.
Want to migrate landline to an alternative provider which already have SIP with but keep broadband, I belive its called a renumber and export what is the process with PlusNet to do this?

Assuming that you want to stay on ADSL, the first thing you need to check is whether your line can be converted to "SOADSL 2+" - i.e. ADSL2+ but without the telephone number associated with it.
Go to BT Broadband Availability Checker then enter your phone number and click on <Submit>
In the purple table look to see whether "WBC SOADSL 2+" is in the left hand column, and if it is, is it listed as "Available".
Also in the notes below the table, check that somewhere it says -"SOADSL is not restricted at the exchange"
.

I'm not sure that Plusnet are offering SoADSL even if it is available ?
In any case , @matthewleggott is asking about moving the existing number to voip and retaining the landline, but with a different number.

AFAIK there is no Plusnet process for 'renumber and export' , its not a service that PN offer. The Openreach renumber and export process is complicated and prone to failure. To my knowledge there is only one ISP that is prepared to attempt it, A & A, and they will only do it if you already have their broadband and are porting the number to their voip platform.

SOADSL is available, I've held off migrating to FTTC as due to distance from green cab as it was exchange only line it didn't benefit but if its easier I'd move over to that product.
I know A&A do that was hoping PlusNet did as they use to be on it but recent customer service experience has left me with a bitter taste, have been a customer for over 20 years but I don't recognise the company I joined.
Although A&A is a lot more expensive you get what you pay for there and support is top notch.

AIUI a renumber and export to voip is effectively two, linked but separate, orders on Openreach, the renumber and the port to voip. If one of the orders goes wrong it can cause problems, say for instance the rerumber fails, if the port continues then it ceases the existing landline and thus any broadband!. Where the voip supplier is different to the existing supplier , each party can ONLY see their own part of the order and have no knowledge of the other. In the case of A & A they can SEE both orders and should there be a problem with one, they can quickly cancel the other before it goes 'pear shaped'
