When landlines change to VOIP, do we....

When landlines change to VOIP, do we need a modem/router with special VOIP ports or will there be a way to just plug one into whatever ethernet outlets we happen to have?  Or even via wifi?

Fix

The new PlusNet Hub Two router includes a port marked 'Digital Voice Customers Only' which you plug your existing phone into.   I assume the plan will be to issue people with a new Hub Two router and migrate people onto the Digital Voice service.

Digital Voice is a proprietary service provided by BT/PlusNet, you could choose to migrate to a more standard SIP based provider, and then use any SIP based phone such as those provided by Gigaset which just plug into an ethernet port.
